1/3 cup cornstarch
1/2 tsp. salt
3/4 cup sugar
4 cups milk
1/2 stick butter
1 tsp. vanilla extract
Box of Original "Nilla Vanilla Wafers"
4-5 perfectly ripened bananas

Directions:
Directions:
Combine first 3 ingredients with 1 cup milk. Scald remaining milk; add cornstarch mixture. Stir constantly over medium heat until thickened. Remove from heat and add butter and vanilla. Cool

Alternate layers of vanilla wafers, bananas and pudding in a large, shallow baking dish ending with pudding. Top with Cool Whip right away and refrigerate. If you use real whipped cream, I would wait until you are ready to serve.

I had not heard of Banana Pudding until I moved South. It is a classic down here, and I see why...delish. Kids love it too! The homemade pudding is what makes it so good!
