2 tbsp. butter or margarine
2 tbsp. flour
2 tsp. salt
2 cups milk
6 cups sliced potatoes (2 1/2 pounds)
1/2 pound American cheese, grated
1 tbsp. melted butter

Directions:
Directions:
Melt butter in sauce pan, stir in flour and salt and milk slowly stirring until sauce boils and thickens.
Add potato slices and cheese, heat with occasional stirring until the sauce boils again.
Turn potatoes and sauce into a shallow, greased 2-quart baking dish. Drizzle melted butter over top.
Bake uncovered at 350 degrees about 40 to 55 minutes until potatoes are tender and a tempting brown on top.
Serve hot.
