1 cup flour
2 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp salt
3/4 cups sugar
2 Tbsp cocoa
1/2 cup milk
2 Tbsp shortening, melted
1 cup nuts, chopped (optional)

1 cup brown sugar
4 tbsp cocoa
1 3/4 cup hot water

Directions:
Directions:
Sift first five ingredients into a bowl. Mix milk and shortening together and add flour mixture. Blend in nuts and spread in 9" square pan. Sprinkle with mixture of brown sugar and cocoa. Pour hot water over entire batter. Bake 45 minutes at 350. Serve with ice cream, whipped cream, or milk.
