Sift 1 cup flour 1/4 teaspoon salt 2 teaspoon baking powder 2 Tablespoons cocoa and 3/4 cup sugar

stir in 1/2 cup milk, 2 Tablespoons melted shortening, 1 cup nuts

spread in 9"pan sprinkle with 1 cup brown sugar and 4 Tablespoons cocoa.

Pour over, 1-3/4 cup hot water

Bake in 350 oven for 45 minutes. Serve whit whipped cream or scoop of vanilla ice cream.
