Chocolate Caramel Bars Recipe

Cookie Dough:
1 box German Chocolate Cake Mix
3/4 C melted Margarine or Butter
1/3 C Condensed Milk
1 tsp Vanilla
1 C chopped Walnuts Nuts
Caramel Mixture:

1 pkg Kraft Caramels
1/2 C Condensed Milk
Chocolate:

12 oz bag Chocolate Chips

Preheat oven to 350. Spray 9 X 13" baking dish with Pam. Put cake mix, margarine or butter(Beulah uses butter!), condensed milk, vanilla and nuts in bowl and mix well. Spread 1/2 of the mixture in the 9 X 13" pan and bake for 8 minutes. While 1/2 of the dough mixture is cooking, melt caramels and 1/2 cup condensed milk in double boiler. When you fist take the cookie dough out of the oven, sprinkle the 12 oz. bag of chocolate chips over the cooked dough. Then pour the caramel mixture over the top of cooked dough and chocolate chips. Top with the remainder of the uncooked cookie cough. Bake 18 to 20 minutes. Take out and cool slightly and then cut into squares.

This recipe was given to me by a lady who bakes for the medical office I work in. She has become like a member of our family over the years. A batch of these bars usually doesn't last the day. I always try to bring one or two home for Chris and Josh.
