2 eggs
1 c sugar
1/3 c melted shortening (do not use oil)
1 c milk
4 c flour
4 tsp baking powder
1 tsp salt
1 tsp nutmeg

Directions:
Directions:
1. combine beaten eggs, sugar and melted shortening.
2.Add milk
3. Mix flour with baking powder, salt and nutmeg.
4. Combine the liquid and dry ingredients stirring only until smooth.
5. Roll dough to 1/2 inch thick on a floured board.
6, Dough will be soft, Cut with a floured cutter.

Fry doughnuts in shortening to 365 degrees or an inch of cube bread will brown in 60 seconds.

Turn when brown and fry on both sides until golden brown 3-5 minutes.

Remove and drain on paper toweling. Frost or shake in sugar/cinnamon mixture

Mom made these and would shake in cinnamon sugar but I have dipped these in a butter glaze. Fun to make to make doughnuts and so good when eaten hot.
