1 1/2 c boiling water
1 c oatmeal
1/2 c shortening
1 c brown sugar
1 c white sugar
2 eggs beaten
1 tsp vanilla
1 1/2 c flour
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 soda
1 tsp cinnamon

Bake 350

1. Mix boiling water and oatmeal and let cool.
2. Sift the dry ingredients
3. To oatmeal add shortening, sugars, eggs, vanilla and dry ingredients.
4. Pour into a 9x12" greased cake pan
5. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until toothpick comes out clean.

Icing
Boil together one minute: 6 tbsp butter, 1 c brown sugar, 1/3 c cream and 1 tsp vanilla. Add 1 c nuts and 1 c coconut.

Pour over hot cake
