1/2 c shortening
2 c brown sugar
2 eggs
1 1/2 flour
3tsp baking powder
1 tsp salt
1 1/2 vanilla
1/2 c chopped nuts

1. Melt shortening in a medium sauce pan
2. Add brown sugar and then one egg at a time
3. Add dry ingredients. When mixed well add vanilla and nuts.
4. Pour into a greased 8' square pan or bar pan.
5. Bake about 35 minutes or when toothpick comes out clean.
6. Cool and cut into 12 squares
