1 cup sugar ¾ cup shortening 2 eggs 1 cup molasses 1 cup raisins 1 tsp. cinnamon 1 tsp. b. soda ½ tsp. cloves ½ tsp. nutmeg ½ tsp b. powder 3 to 3-1/2 c. flour ¼ cup sour milk (1/8 tsp. lemon juice or vinegar may be used to sour milk.)
Cream together: 1 cup sugar ¾ cup shortening 2 eggs
Add: 1 cup molasses 1 cup raisins
Sift together and add: 1 tsp. cinnamon 1 tsp. b. soda ½ tsp. cloves ½ tsp. nutmeg ½ tsp b. powder 3 to 3-1/2 c. flour
Blend in: ¼ cup sour milk (1/8 tsp. lemon juice or vinegar may be used to sour milk.)
Line a cookie sheet or jelly roll pan with parchment paper. Spread ½ of batter evenly over paper. Bake 15 minutes @ 375 degrees. Pull paper onto cooling rack and repeat with remainder of batter. When cool, cut into rectangles.
