1 c shortening
1 c sugar
1 c canned pumpkin
1 egg
1 tsp vanilla
2 c sifted all-purpose flour
1 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
1 tsp ground cinnamon
1/2 tsp ground nutmeg
1/4 tsp ground allspice
1/2 cup slivered almonds

Directions:
Directions:
Cream shortening and sugar. Add pumpkin, egg and vanilla; beat well. Sift together flour, baking powder, soda, salt, and spices. Add to creamed mixture; blend well. Stir in slivered almonds. Drop by rounded teaspoons, 2 inches apart, on greased cookie sheet. Bake at 350 degrees for 12 to 15 minutes.

Makes: 3 1/2 dozen cookies
