2 1/2 cups of cake flour--sifted
2 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. baking soda
2/3 c. shortening (solid)
3/4 tsp. of salt
1 1/4 c. sugar
1/3 c. boiling water
1 unbeaten egg
2 egg yolks
3 sq. bakers chocolate--melted
3/4 c. milk
1 tsp. vanilla
2 9" cake pans

Directions:

Sift together flour, baking powder, salt and soda into a bowl and set aside. in a large mixing bowl, creme the shorting, add sugar gradually and continue beating the mixture. On low speed, add eggs, one at a time. Mix well after each addition. Add cool melted chocolate. Alternate the addition of flour mixture with milk by first adding a little flour and mix well, then add milk and mix well. Continue adding flour followed by the milk until all the ingredients have been added to the batter. Add vanilla and boiling water and beat well. Pour the batter into a the two 9" cake pans which have been greased and dusted with flour. Bake in a preheated oven of 350 for 30 to 35minutes. Remove and cool on the rack. Remove cake from pan when it is still warm. Frost the cake with chocolate frosting.
