1 c. margarine or butter, softened
2/3 c. sugar
tsp. vanilla
2 c. flour

1 (8 oz.) cream cheese, softened
c. sugar
1 egg
1 tsp. vanilla
5-6 apples, peeled, cored and sliced thinly
1/3 c. sugar
1 tsp. cinnamon
tsp. lemon juice
c. sliced almonds

For crust, cream butter and sugar in mixing bowl with a wooden spoon. Add vanilla and flour, blending well. Press mixture onto bottom and of the way up the sides of a 9 diameter springform pan.

Beat the cream cheese, sugar, egg and vanilla in mixing bowl, until smooth. Pour over crust.

For topping, combine sliced apples with sugar, cinnamon and lemon juice. Mix well. Pour apple mixture over top of cheese filling. Sprinkle with sliced almonds.

Using a spoon, push crust down on the sides so that it forms a bit of an edge over the apples.

Bake 375 for 40 minutes or until crust is golden brown and filling is set.
