3 egg whites
6 tbsp. sugar
1 t. lemon juice or 1/2 t. vanilla

Directions:
Directions:
Beat egg whites until stiff and dry.
Add sugar gradually-beating well after each addition. Continue until stiff peaks form. Add flavoring. Spread meringue lightly over cooled filling in pie shell, making sure it touches pastry rim all around. Make swirls or peaks in meringue with back of tablespoon. Bake in slow over (325 F) 25-30 min., or until meringue is firm and delicately browned. Let pie cool on rack away fro drafts.
