1-1/2 c. sugar
1 stick butter
1/2 c. shortening
5 egg yolks
2 c. flour
1 tsp. soda
1 c. buttermilk
1 tsp. vanilla
1-1/2 c. coconut
1 c. chopped pecans or nut of choice
5 egg whites

Frosting:
8 oz. package cream cheese (softened)
1 stick butter (softened)
1 pound box powdered sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 c. chopped nuts


Directions:
Directions:
Cream together sugar, butter, and shortening. Add egg yolks and beat well. Combine flour and soda. Add alternately the mixture with buttermilk and vanilla. Add coconut and nuts. Fold in egg whites. Bake in 9x13 greased and floured pan at 350 for 25 to 30 minutes.

Frosting:
Mix together until creamy. Blend in nuts.
