1/2 lb. dates
1 C water
1 C sugar--cook & cool
1 C brown sugar
1/2 C shortning
1 1/2 C Oatmeal
1 1/2 C flour
1 tsp. soda

Line cake pan 9x13 with half of crumbs, spread on the filling and put remainder of crumbs on top.
Bake at 350 until brown
