Ingredients:
Ingredients:
3/4 lb. ground beef
1/4 lb. ground pork
1 small onion, grated
1/2 c. fine dry bread crumbs (croutettes ground in the blender are very tasty)
1 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. pepper
1/8 tsp. nutmeg
1/8 tsp. marjoram
2 eggs
1/2 c. milk
2 tbsp. oil
1 can condensed beef consomme
Sweet pickle relish

Directions:
Directions:
Combine first nine ingredients and mix with milk. Mix with large fork and form into balls. Wet hands make it easier. Brown balls a few at a time in hot oil; reserve until all meatballs are browned. Drain off all fat from pan. Return meatballs and pour over consomme. Simmer 15 min. or until the meat is no longer pink in the center. Remove meatballs with slotted spoon and make sauce.
Sauce: Pour all liquid from pan into a 1 c. measure; add water (or rose wine is good) if needed to make 1 c. Return to pan and heat to boiling. Blend 2 tbsp. flour with 3 tbsp. water to make a paste; stir into hot liquid. Stir constantly until sauce thickens and boil 1 min. Stir in 2 tbsp. sweet pickle relish. Return meatballs to pan to reheat.
