1/2 C. warm water
3 yeast cakes
3 eggs, beaten
2 tsp. salt
2 C. scalded milk
5 T. shortening
8 T. sugar
7 C. sifted flour
1 tsp. mace

Combine warm water and yeast, set aside. Combine milk, shortening, sugar and salt. When lukewarm, add 2 cups flour and eggs and mace combined. Add yeast and rest of flour. Mix well and turn out onto a floured board. Knead until a nice consistency is reached. Let raise until doubled.
Roll out flat and spread with 1 square butter, cinnamon and sugar (1to1 ratio). Roll and cut about 1" thick. Let rise on cookie sheet. Bake at 450 for 12 minutes.
Icing: Powder sugar, 1/2 square butter, melted, vanilla and canned milk.
