Ingredients:
Ingredients:
2-3 oz. almond paste (I use Odense pure almond paste: the 7 oz. package can be divided into thirds to make three tortes)
1 1/2 c. sugar
3/4 c. butter, melted
2 eggs
1 tsp. almond extract
1 1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. baking powder
pinch salt
sliced almonds
sugar

Directions:
Directions:
Line 9-inch cast iron skillet with aluminum foil

Mix together the. almond paste, sugar, and melted butter. Add and mix in the eggs and almond extract. Combine dry ingredients and mix into the batter. Pour into pan. Sprinkle the top with sliced almonds and sugar.

Bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes, then leave in oven for 10 minutes with the oven off and the door slightly open.

Remove from oven and allow to cool in pan.

Hint: when buying the almond paste, squeeze the pack to make sure it is soft. If it is hard, there is no way to make it soft.

Personal Notes:
The torte may not look impressive but once they take a bite, they want more and more and then the recipe.

It is very easy to make.

It ships well.

We have given them as a part of the Cleath & Associates' Christmas platter and now people expect it (we get calls every year from clients who haven't called us in months!)
