Ingredients:
2 c. bread crumbs or cubes, 1 qt. scalded milk, 2 eggs, 2 egg yolks, 9 Tbs. sugar, 1/2 tsp. salt, 1 tsp. vanilla, 1/4 c. melted butter, strawberry jam (or any jaum you wish to clean up), 2 egg whites.

Directions:
Directions:
Add the bread to the scalded milk. Beat the eggs and yolks slightly and add 5 Tbs of the sugar and the salt. Mix thoroughly and combine with the bread and milk mixture and add the vanilla, and butter, mix well. ( I beat it with an egg beater to break up the bread, because you don't like to bite into the bread pieces) Pour into a greased casserole, set in a pan of hot water and bake in a 350 oven for 45 minutes. Remove from oven, spread on the jam and top with the egg whites which have been beaten until the form peaks, adding 4 Tbs. sugar. Put back into the oven and bake at 300 for 30 minutes or until delicately brown.
