3/4 cup sugar
1/4 cup soft shortening or butter
1 egg
1/2 cup milk
1 1/2 cups flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
Topping:
1/2 cup brown sugar (packed)
1 1/2 tsp. cinnamon

Directions:
Directions:
Heat oven to 375 degrees. Grease and flour a square pan (9X9). Mix sugar, shortening and egg thoroughly. Stir in milk. Blend dry ingredients; stir in. Spread batter in pan. Sprinkle with topping. Bake 25 to 35 minutes or until toothpick stuck into center comes out clean. Serve warm.
