Mom Schneider's original list of ingredients:
2 c. sugar, 1/2 c. butter, softened, 2 squares bittersweet chocolate, melted, 3 eggs, 3/4 c. buttermilk, 1 tsp. baking soda, 2 c. Presto cake flour, 1 c. warm coffee.

The following changes I made to the ingredients:
1 3/4 c. sugar, 2 yolks and 2 whole eggs, 3/4 c. coffee. Also to make the cake flour; add 1/2 tsp baking powder and 1 tsp. salt to reg. flour.

Cream butter and sugar. Add eggs one at a time and cream well. Stir in melted chocolate. Add the buttermilk and the soda, mix. Stir in the flour and coffee alternately. Bake in three layers about 30 minutes at 350.

4 MINUTE ICING-
1 c. sugar, 1/4 tsp salt, 1/2 tsp cream of Tartar, 2 unbeaten egg whites, 3 Tbs. water, 1 tsp. vanilla.

Combine all the ingredients in a double boiler over boiling water. beat until the mixture stands in peaks. Do not cook.
