1/2 c. butter
3/4 c. sugar
1 egg
3/4 c. molasses
3 1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. soda
1 tsp. ginger
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. cloves
1/2 tsp. nutmeg

Directions:
Directions:
Cream butter and sugar, beat in egg and molasses. Stir in remaining ingredients only till blended. Cover and chill 1-2 hours. Roll dough on floured surface to 1/8 in. for crisp cookies or 1/4 in. thick for soft cookies. Cut with cookie cutters, place on lightly greased cookie sheet. Bake at 375 till lightly browned, 6-10 minutes, depending how thick they are. Cool and decorate.
