1 pkg active dry yeast
1/4 C water
2 C milk, scalded
2 tbsp sugar
2 tsp salt
1 tbsp Crisco Shortening
6 to 6 1/4 C flour

Directions:
Directions:
Soften active dry yeast in warm water (110). Combine hot milk, sugar, salt and shortening. Cool to lukewarm. Stir in 2 C of the flour; beat well. Add the softened yeast; mix. Add enough to remaining flour to make moderately stiff dough.
Turn out on lightly floured surface; Knead till smooth and satiny (8 to 10 min). Shape in ball; lightly grease surface with crisco shortening. place in bowl. Cover with towel. Let double (about 1 1/2 hrs). Punch down. Let rise again till double (about 1 hr).
Turn out of bowl onto surface. Cut dough in half. Shape each into 2 loaves. Lightly grease the surfaces with crisco shortening and place in loaf pans. Cover with towel and let rise till double (about 1 hour). Bake in 400 for 25 min or till golden brown. Remove from oven and turn out onto rack to cool.
