Cake:
1 stick butter
1/2 C. cooking oil
2 C. sugar
5 eggs, separated
1 C. buttermilk
1 t. baking soda
1 C. shredded coconut
1/2 C. nuts, chopped

Icing:
1-8 oz. package cream cheese, softened
1 stick butter, softened
1 t. vanilla
1 box powdered sugar
1/2 C. nuts, chopped fine

Cake:
Cream butter, oil and sugar. Add egg yolks one at a time, beating after each addition. Stir baking soda into buttermilk. Add sifted flour into batter, alternating with buttermilk mixture. Add vanilla, coconut, and chopped nuts. Beat egg whites and fold into mixture. Pour into a greased and floured 9x13 cake pan or three 8 or 9 inch layer pans. Bake at 325 (40-45 minutes for 9x13 pan, 30-35 minutes for 9 inch pans). Cool and ice.

Icing:
Beat cream cheese and butter. Add vanilla, sugar and nuts. Beat until of spreading consistency.
