Ingredients:
1 egg white
1/8 teaspoon cream of tartar
1/3 cup boiling water
1 cup sugar
few grains of salt
1/2 teaspoon vanilla

Directions:
Directions:
Combine sugar, salt, cream of tartar and boiling water. Pour into upper part of a double boiler. Place over boiling water. Add unbeaten egg white. Beat with electric beater for 7 minutes, until thick enough to spread. Add vanilla; mix again.
I found that after the sugar has melted, take the upper portion of the double boiler out. It thickens better once it is away from the steam. Once it starts to cool start beating again. Great on Angel Food Cake.
