1/2 cup butter or oleo
1 cup sugar
4 eggs
1 1/4 cup sifted flour
3/4 tsp baking soda
1 can (1 lb) chocolate flavored syrup
1 tsp vanilla
3/4 cup coarsely broken nuts

Directions:
Directions:
Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each. Sift flour and soda together. Add alternately with chocolate syrup to creamed mixture. Add vanilla. Beat well.

Pour into greased and floured 13 x 9 x 2 inch pan. Sprinkle top with broken nuts. Bake in 350 oven 40-45 minutes or until done.

Drizzle with frosting, if desired.
