1/2 c sugar
1/2 c butter
1 egg
1 c dark corn syrup
2&1/2 c sifted flour
1&1/2 t soda
1 t cinnamon
1 t ginger
1/2 t cloves
1/2 t salt
1 c hot water

Directions:
Directions:
Cream shortening and sugar. Add beaten egg, syrup then dry ingredients which have been sifted together. Add hot water and beat until smooth. Bake in a greased 8x12 inch pan for 40 to 45 minutes at 350.
