1 C shortening
2 C sugar
3 eggs, separated
1 C milk
cake yeast
C luke-warm water
tsp salt
2 c flour
3 oz bittersweet chocolate
Nuts, lightly floured.

Directions:
Directions:
Put yeast to melt in luke-warm water. Cream shortening, adding sugar. Add egg yolks, and beat well. Add melted chocolate, milk and yeast water. Sift in flour and salt. Mix well and then stir in floured nuts. Beat egg whites until stiff peaks form. Fold in egg whites to batter , then let stand overnight. The next morning, add 1 tsp soda, dissolved in 3 tbs warm water and 1 tsp vanilla. Pour into pan and bake 30 minutes, at 350.
