1 1/2 cup flour 1 tsp baking soda 1 tsp salt 1/2 cup shortening 1/2 cup butter 3/4 cup sugar 3/4 cup brown sugar 2 eggs 1 tsp hot water 1/2 - 1 cup nuts (optional) 1 (6 oz) pkg chocolate chips 2 cups oatmeal (I like to grind my oatmeal in blender to flour texture) 1 tsp vanilla
Sift flour, baking soda, and salt. Cream shortening and butter until fluffy. Add sugars, cream well. Beat in eggs; add hot water and sifted ingredients. Add nuts, chocolate chips, and oatmeal. Mix well. Add vanilla; mix well. Drop by spoonfuls on greased cookie sheet. Bake at 350º for 10-12 minutes.
