1 3/4 c. raw quick oats,
1 1/2 c flour,
1 c. light brown sugar,
1 tsp. baking soda,
1/2 tsp. salt,
3/4 c. softened butter

Filling:
3/4 lb. dates cut up,
1/2 c. sugar,
1/2 c. water,
2 Tbs. lemon or orange juice,
1/2 c. chopped nuts

Directions:
Directions:
Mix first six ingredients and pat half into bottom of an 8x8x2 inch greased pan. Boil dates sugar, water, salt and lemon juice until thick. Add nuts. Spread over bottom layer. Place other half of oat mixture on top. Bake at 350 for 20 to 30 minutes until brown around the edges. Cool and slice into squares.
