10 very thin slices of eye of round roast beef 1 large onion, sliced and separated into rings 2 T. butter salt and pepper 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese 5 hard rolls (split) extra softened butter for the rolls
Brown onions in the butter until golden. Remove from pan and set aside. In the same pan, season the steaks with salt and peppeer and cook about 2-3 minutes per side. Set aside. Butter each side of the rolls with a thin coat of butter. Top bottom half of roll with 2 pieces of steak and a mound of onions. Cover the other half of the roll with the mozzarella. Brown under the broiler until cheese is melted. Fill with shredded lettuce and sliced tomatoes if desired.
