2 Cups Sifted Flour
3 tsp. Baking Powder
1 1/4 Cups Sugar
3/4 tsp. salt
1/2 Cup Shortening
1/2 Cup Milk
1/2 tsp. Maple Flavoring
2 Eggs
1/4 Cup Milk
1/2 Cup Finely Chopped Walnuts

Directions:
Directions:
Sift together flour, baking powder, sugar and salt into a large mixing bowl. Add shortening, 1/2 cup milk and flavoring. Beat 2 minuts using medium speed of electric mixer or by hand using 150 strokes per minute. Keep batter scraped from sides and bottom of bowl with rubber spatula. Add eggs and 1/4 cup milk. Beat 2minuts longer as before. Fold in nuts. Pour equal amounts of batter into 2 greased and floured 8 x 1 1/2 inch round layer cake pans. Bake 375 degrees - 25 minutes. Cool and frost. .
