2 c. flour 1 tsp. cream of tartar 1/2 tsp. baking soda 1/4 tsp. baking powder 2/3 stick of butter milk
Combine dry ingredients, then cut in butter with fork or pastry blender. Add just enough milk to hold together, and use your hands to work into a ball. Don't knead or overwork the dough. Form into biscuits or fill an 8-9" round greased pan for shortcake. Bake at 350º.
