1 c shortening
1 stick margarine
1 box (16 oz.) light brown sugar -- sifted
5 eggs
3 c all purpose flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1 c evaporated milk
2 tsp. butter pecan flavoring
or
1 tsp. butter and 1 tsp vanilla
Frosting:
1 stick margarine
1 cup firmly packed brown sugar
1/4 cup milk (canned cream)
2 1/2 cup powdered sugar
1 tsp vanilla extract

Directions:
Directions:
Cream shortening, margarine and brown sugar. Add eggs, one at a time beating well after each addition. Combine dry ingredients and add to creamed mixture alternately with milk. Add flavoring. Pour mixture into greased and flour tube pan; bake at 300 for 1 1/2 hours -- cover with brown sugar frosting after cake is cool.
Frosting:
Melt margarine in saucepan. Add brown sugar, cook over low heat, stirring constantly until sugar melts. **Do not boil. Remove from heat. Stir in milk, add powdered sugar and vanilla. Beat until smooth and spread on cake.
