1/2 cup shortening
1/2 cup sugar
1 egg
2 - 1/2 cups flour
1 tsp. soda
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. ginger
1/2 tsp. cloves
1/2 tsp. salt
1 cup molasses
1 cup milk
1 cup raisins (optional)

Directions:

Combine all ingredients. Bake in a 9" x 13" pan at 375 for 45 minutes.
