Mrs. Smith’s 3 lb. Deep Dish Apple Pie

Topping:
1/4 c. butter
1 c. brown sugar
1/3 c. whipping cream
1 t. vanilla
1 c. powdered sugar
3/4 c. toasted pecans

Directions:
Directions:
Bake a Mrs. Smith’s 3 lb. Deep Dish Apple Pie according to the directions on the box. (You may need to shield crust with foil after one hour.) Cool for one hour.

Bring butter, brown sugar and cream to a boil over medium heat. Whisk in vanilla and powdered sugar until smooth. Pour slowly over pie, spreading to cover (you will want to keep the pie on the foil-lined cookie sheet for this step). Quickly top with pecans before topping hardens.
Serve with ice cream.
