26 vanilla wafers, crushed
1/2 cup butter
1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
2 eggs, beaten
1 can cherry pie filling
1/2 tsp almond extract
Cool Whip

Directions:
Directions:
Crush vanilla wafers. Put most of these (save some for garnish) in loaf pan or 8x8 glass dish. Cook butter, powdered sugar, and eggs on medium heat until thick, stirring constantly. Pour over wafers and let cool. Spread cherry pie filling and almond extract over cooled pudding. Top with cool whip. Garnish with a few more crushed wafers. Chill.

This has been a family favorite since the 1960s, and Iíve yet to find it in any of my other cook books. It was another of our Grandma Medlenís favorites.
