3 egg whites
7 tbsp. sugar
1/4 tsp. cream of tartar
dash of salt
1 tsp.vanilla

Directions:
Directions:
In a glass bowl beat egg whites and 1 tbsp. sugar at high speed on mixer for 3 minutes. Add remaining 6 tbsp. of sugar gradually and beat well after each addition. Continue beating until you cannot feel sugar granules between your fingers when testing. Add salt and vanilla and beat. Pile lightly on pie, make sure meringue is sealed to edge of crust or it will have a watery layer between meringue and filling. Bake at 350 for about 15 minutes or until brown. Cool away from drafts.
