2 cups fresh, ripe strawberries, divided
1 baked 9-inch pie shell
1 cup sugar
2 Tbsp cornstarch
pinch salt
1 (8 oz) carton whipping cream
1/4 cup sugar

Directions:
Directions:
Slice 1 cup of strawberries in half and place them in the baked pie crust. In a medium saucepan crush the remaining strawberries with a fork or potato masher and place over medium heat. Bring to boiling, add 1 cup of sugar, the cornstarch, and salt. Cook until thick (about 5 minutes). Cool and then spoon over the berries in the pie crust. Chill in the refrigerator.

To serve, whip the cream with the remaining 1/4 cup sugar. Top the pie, slice, and serve.
