"I have long believed that good food, good eating is all about risk. Whether we're talking about unpasteurized Stilton, raw oysters or working for organized crime 'associates,' food, for me, has always been an adventure."--Anthony Bourdain
This recipe for Blossom Cookies, by Beth Medlin, is from OUR FAMILY RECIPES,
one of the cookbooks created at FamilyCookbookProject.com. We help
families or individuals create heirloom cookbook treasures.
1-1/2 cups flour 1 tsp soda 1/2 tsp salt 1/2 cup white sugar 1/2 cup brown sugar 1/2 cup shortening 1/2 cup peanut butter 1 egg 2 Tbsp milk 2 tsp vanilla
Combine all ingredients in large mixing bowl. Mix on low until dough forms. Shape into 48 balls. Roll balls in granulated sugar. Place on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake 10 - 12 minutes at 375º. Remove and top each ball with a chocolate candy kiss. Press down firmly so cookie cracks around edge.
