"A man who was fond of wine was offered some grapes at dessert after dinner. "Much obliged," said he, pushing the plate aside; "I am not accustomed to take my wine in pills."--Jean Antheleme Brillat-Savarin, The Physiology of Taste

Ingredients:
Ingredients:
1/2 cup butter
2 Tbsp granulated sugar
1 tsp vanilla
1 cup flour
1 cup chopped nuts
powdered sugar

Directions:
Directions:
Soften butter to room temperature, then cream in sugar. Add vanilla, mix well. Add flour and nuts, mixing well after each. Dough will handle better if chilled several hours. Roll dough into small balls, 3/4 - 1 inch across. Place on ungreased baking sheets. Bake at 300 for 40 minutes. Flatten slightly with floured bottom of glass. After they are baked, immediately roll hot cookies in powdered sugar. Let cool. Again roll cold cookies in powdered sugar. Handle carefully, they are fragile. Cookies can be stored in tight container in refrigerator.

Personal Notes:
Personal Notes:
These are a very pretty cookie, but because of the nuts I don't make them for the family. They remind you of a bakery cookie.
