4 lbs. boneless beef roast (rump, cross rib, etc.) cut into cubes*
6 bacon slices, browned & crumble and set aside
2 cloves garlic, crushed (or equivalent minced or garlic powder)
2 cans sliced mushroom
1 green pepper, chopped
1 bay leaves (remove before serving)
2 T. parsley
1 tsp. thyme
1/8 tsp. pepper
3 cans consume soup

Directions:

Brown beef cubes in bacon drippings. Then add rest of ingredients. Simmer together 2 hours (or add can of water & cook 3 hours while at church. Just before serving add 1 cube butter (or margarine) and 1/2 cup flour. Serve over rice. Can use noodles if preferred.

*Original recipe called for 4 lbs. of round steak. I find it much easier to use a 4 lb. roast partially frozen, cut slices, then cube.
