4 C. basic cookie mix
1/4 tsp. cinnamon
2 eggs, beaten
1 tsp. vanilla
1/4 C. water or buttermilk
Walnut halves

Date Filling:
1 C. chopped Dates
3 T. Sugar
3 T. Water
1/4 C. chopped Nuts

Directions:
Directions:
Prepare Date Filling: In a saucepan, combine dates, sugar and water. Cook over medium heat about 5-10 minutes, stirring until thick. Remove from heat. Cool slightly. Stir in chopped nuts. Set aside.

Preheat oven to 375. Lightly grease baking sheets. In a large bowl, combine Basic Cookie Mix, cinnamon, eggs, vanilla and water or buttermilk. Blend well. Drop by teaspoonfuls onto prepared baking sheets. Spoon 1/2 teaspoon Date FIlling on top of each cookie, depressing dough slightly. Cover each with another teaspoon of dough. Top with walnut half. Bake 10-12 minutes, until browned.
Variation: Substitute raisins for dates.
