1/2 cup butter or margarine
1 cup sugar
2 eggs, beaten
3-4 mashed ripe bananas with 1 tsp lemon juice
1 cup sifted white flour
1 cup unsifted whole wheat flour
3 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
1 cup chopped nuts or sunflower seeds

Preheat oven to 375
Cream butter and sugar together. Add beaten eggs. Add bananas mashed with lemon juice. Blend all together well. Sift together white flour, baking powder and salt. Add whole wheat flour. Mix quickly into banana mixture. Add nuts.
Bake in greased loaf pan at 375 1- 1 1/2 hours.
Watch closely after one hour and test for doneness with toothpick, knife or broom straw.

This can be done any time after an hour, depending on the oven and baking dish, so watch very closely. Do young ones know how to test with knife, toothpick or broom straw? It's done when whatever you're testing with comes out clean and loaf begins to pull away from edges of pan.
