"I have long believed that good food, good eating is all about risk. Whether we're talking about unpasteurized Stilton, raw oysters or working for organized crime 'associates,' food, for me, has always been an adventure."--Anthony Bourdain
This recipe for Blackberry pie from Mama Jean Stowe, by Bobbi Lee, is from Our Family Cookbook,
one of the cookbooks created at FamilyCookbookProject.com. We help
families or individuals create heirloom cookbook treasures.
2 9 inch pie crusts 2 1/2 cups berries with juice 2 heaping tbs flour 1 1/2 cups sugar .
Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Place bottom crust in pie pan. Mix berries, sugar, flour and juice. Place in pan. Cover with top crust; cut slits for steam. Bake about 40 minutes, until top is brown and bubbly. Serve with ice cream or whipped topping.
Mama Jean used wild mountain blackberries. Our southern variety don't taste the same!
