1 1/2 cups sifted flour
1 tsp soda
1 1/2 tsp salt
1 cup shortening
1 cup white sugar
1 cup brown sugar
2 eggs, beaten
1 tsp vanilla
3 cup quick cooking oats

Directions:
Directions:
Sift flour and measure. Add soda and salt and sift again. Cream shortening and add sugars gradually. Beat until light. Add eggs and vanilla. Combine dry ingredients and creamed mixture; blend thoroughly. Add the oats. Pack into clean frozen fruit juice cans. Chill overnight for best results. Detach the bottom of the can and use it to push dough out for baking. Cut into thin slices and bake on ungreased cookie sheet in hot (400) oven 6 to 8 minutes.
