1 box Duncan Hines Butter Recipe Yellow Cake Mix

Caramel Icing:

1 stick butter, soften
1 tsp vanilla extract
1/2 cup white sugar
1/2 cup brown sugar
1 12 oz can carnation evaporated milk

1. Follow directions to prepare cake according to instructions on box.
2. While cake is in oven start preparing icing. Start by pouring 1 cup granulated white sugar in heavy skillet and brown until dark brown over medium heat.
2. Turn heat off before sugar begins to crystallize. 3. Remove skillet from heat and add 1 12 oz can of evaporated milk, 1 teaspoon vanilla and 1 stick of butter.
4. Turn heat to high and cook until mixture thickens, about 15-20 minutes.
5. Remove from heat and let cool.
6. Make sure cake is also cool before spreading on icing. Let cake cool for 20-30 minutes before cutting.
