1/3 c. butter
2 c. flour
2/3 c. sugar
2 eggs
2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. vanilla
3/4 c. slivered almonds
3/4 c. chopped nuts

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 375.

Using a large mixing bowl, beat butter until softened. Add 1 cup flour, sugar, eggs, baking powder and vanilla. MIx together. Add second cup of flour and nuts, then mix. Finish mixing by hand, if necessary.

Place dough on greased cookie sheet and divide in half. Shape into two 9 inch loaves, each 2 - 3 inches wide and 1 inch high. Bake for 25 minutes. Remove from oven and cool on cookie sheet for 1 hour. Cut into 1/2 inch slices and lay flat on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake at 325 for 8 - 10 minutes. Turn slices over and bake 8 - 10 minutes more. Cool on wire rack. Store in airtight container.
