1/2 cup Crisco
1 1/2 cups Sugar
2 eggs
2 Tbsp. cocoa
1/4 cup red food coloring ( 2 Bottles)
2 1/2 cups cake flour
1 tsp. salt
1 cup buttermilk
1 tsp. vinegar
1 tsp. soda
1 tsp. vanilla
Frosting:
1 cup butter
1 cup milk
1 Tbsp. vanilla
1 cup sugar
3 Tbsp. flour

Directions:
Directions:
Cream shortening, eggs, & sugar. Add cocoa, and food coloring. Sift together flour, salt, and then alternate flour mixture and buttermilk into cake batter, Add vinegar. Stir together soda and vanilla, add to batter. Mix well. Bake in 2 (8 inch) prepared pans (grease and floured) for 30 minutes at 350 degrees. Make sure you preheat oven.
Frosting:
Cream Softened butter and sugar until fluffy. Cook milk and flour until thick in sauce pan. Cool milk mixture, then add vanilla to sugar and butter mixture. Then add milk mixture gradually, beating constantly. Slit each layer, making 4 layers. Frost between layers, sides and on top. If very hot weather, might have to refrigerate.
