2 cups flour
4 tsp baking powder
1 tbsp sugar
1/2 tsp salt
2/3 cup milk
1 egg, beaten
1/2 cup shortening

Directions:
Directions:
Sift flour, baking powder, sugar and salt. Cut in shortening until coarse crumbs. Combine milk and egg. Add to flour all at once. Stir until dough follows flour around the bowl. Turn out onto lightly floured surface. Knead gently. Roll out 3/4 inch thick and cut into rounds. Place on ungreased pan. Bake at 450F for 10 to 15 minutes.
